As per usual, albeit a bit late, we'll be celebrating with Combat Day. You don't know what that means? No problem, I'll tell you! It's a friendly out of character competition in the form of merciless space combat. Starship stores are giving out free starships (sponsored by Merv's Hotdog Emporium) known as Contenders. Simply buy the free ship, hop inside, launch, and find another Contender to fight with. This is a fantastic opportunity to improve your combat skills without any risk of retaliation or financial ruin. There is a scoring system where points are awarded for each opponent you destroy and points are lost when you yourself get destroyed. You also lose a point for every hour you don't fire a shot, so get shootin'! You can see your current standing by typing COMBATDAY and see other people's by typing @COMBATDAY. (Note the @ symbol in the second commant.) If you're out of comms and your blood burns for violence, you can type COMBATDAY to return for the day. Finally, as usual for weird days, you can be out of character on communicators today. Just make sure you follow the other policies. One last note! Contenders enforce 'repair supply', which is a notion that starships only carry a limited amount of material to conduct repairs. You can see your remaining repair supplies by typing ENGINEERING. Each time your ship repairs a component, it loses supplies. If you find yourself running low in an emergency, you can type CANNIBALIZE <component> to instruct the ship to eat a healthy component to add to its stores of raw materials for future repairs.
